Pre-school

St Finian's Playgroup is situated within the confines of St Finian's Primary School in a designated room with all neccessary facilities provided for the exclusive use of the playgroup children.

We currently have 24 pre-school children of which 18 of these are funded.  The playgroup operates Monday - Friday from 9am to 12 noon.  There are three staff all of whom hold appropriate qualifications.

The quality of our provision is monitored by the Department of Education and the social services from whom favourable reports have been received.

Our aim is promote physical, emotional, social and educational development of young children in a safe and caring enviroment.  Our work is structured to provide appropriate play experiences, learning opportunities and adult support in order to assist each child to achieve his or her full potential.

The Early Years Centre has full access to the facilities within St Finian's Primary School including the use of the sports hall for physical development activities.  There is a close association between The Early Years Centre and St Finian's primary School.  The School's Early Years Specialist acts as an adviser to the playgroup staff and is actively involved with them in preparing high quality educational experiences.

We value our links with parents and indeed see the educational process as a partnership between the home and the school.  Parents are most welocme to visit the group and we encourage them to become involved in activities.
